Eyebrow threading

What is threading?

Basically, it's an old school way of removing hair which originated in India and it has recently become a very popular way of doing your eyebrows in Europe.

It got its name 'threading' because the hair is removed using a strand of cotton thread by wrapping the thread around the hair.

Why I love threading my eyebrows instead of plucking them:

* The hair is removed from the hair follicle which makes this a longer lasting way of removing the hairs.

* It's a quick process and takes about 5 - 10 minutes to do both eyebrows, and is relatively cheap.

* The threading technique creates a clean hairline and can be used to shape eyebrows perfectly.

* Unlike waxing, you're only using thread so it's a harmless procedure and even those with the most sensitive of skin can thread their eyebrows.

I've been threading my eyebrows for years but after moving away for uni, and not finding a decent place that knows how to thread in my area I unfortunately had to resort to tweezing them, which I'm not very good at and basically massacred my poor eyebrows!

I've been growing out my eyebrows for the past few weeks (ew, that sounds so gross!) and they're pretty much a mess and today I did eyebrow threading at the salon.

Here are the before and after pictures.

I can't believe I actually posted a picture of my eyebrows in such a horrific state on the internet, but all in the name of beauty research ey! As you can see there's a major difference.

So if you have messy eyebrows and want a successful shape, or if you need them tidied up, eyebrow threading is the way to go.. Trust me!

  2. I used always thread my beastly brows and I would swear by it. I would love to have it done professionally :). Being a trainee beauty therapist, I always have the wax pot out so I tend to use that now. I am trying to grow my brows out at the moment so may have to treat myself to an eyebrow thread when I've reached what I want.
    Great post lovely.
