GlamBox: March 2012

Hello girlies!

Over the past couple of years I've been so jelli of those in America and Europe who have been able to receive 'beauty boxes'; so when I heard about GlamBox, the first ever beauty box catering especially to the UAE, I subscribed straight away!

I love the idea of these 'beauty boxes' because:

a. I'm not going to lie, I love receiving gifts - even though I'm technically paying for this so called gift(!!) - but the idea of getting to open and unwrap a box of unknown goodies each month excites me and gives me a little something to look forward to each month.

b. I genuinely love receiving samples of products that I wouldn't normally go out and splurge on. And if you read this blog regularly, you will have noticed that I have often purchased full sized products based upon a sample I have tried.

Anyways back to this months GlamBox...

This is the second box I have received so far. I was ever so slightly disappointed with my February GlamBox as I felt it lacked luster and contained more packaging than products, but any not-so-positive feelings I had towards GlamBox went down the drain after I opened this months box which I'm so so pleased with!

When it comes to the packaging I think it's very cute and I adore the pink and black combo... Now let's get into the deets of what I received this month!

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Gold Ultra Restorative Capsules - contains ceramides and essential lipids to help strengthen the skin's barrier again the visible signs of time. Click here to learn more.

I received 7 capsules; 60 capsules retail for AED 430 (approximately $117, 89, £74).

Thoughts: Can't wait to try these little golden capsules out as I generally like Elizabeth Arden products and love trying out new face products.

miriamquevedo Extreme Caviar Intensive Anti-aging Mask - an intensive mask that helps restructuring the broken links of Keratin by nourishing the hair follicle. Instantly regenerates the repair process and the hair is revitalized for a soft, silky and shiny finish. Click here to learn more.

I received a 50ml sample and a 250ml bottle of this retails for AED 190 (approximately $52, €39, £33).

Thoughts: I think the size is quite generous and I can't wait to try this product out as the tips of my hair are split and slightly dry and I'm always up for experimenting with products that can aid my damaged locks!

NStyle Nail Polish in Poetic Petra - created using the latest certified technologies with chip resistance, flawless coverage and a long last glossy finish in mind.

I received a full sized regular bottle of this polish which retails for AED 45 (approximately $12, €9, £7).

Thoughts: a full sized nail polish, hell yeah! I also love the bright orange shade which is perfect for spring/summer.

Vichy Thermal Spa Water - 100% pure and naturally rich with 15 rare minerals. Clinically proven to have healthy benefits for your skin: regenerating, antioxidant, soothing and protective. Click here to learn more.

I received a 50g sample and a 150g bottle of this product retails for AED 57 (approximately $16, €12, £10).

Thoughts: again, a generous sample size. Nothing particularly exciting about this product but it will come in handy during the hot upcoming months of Dubai.

Vichy Capital Soleil Lotion SPF 50+ - soft, sheer, sunscreen lotion with multi-layering cellular protection from UV rays and free radical damage.

I received a 15ml sample and a 300ml bottle of this retails for AED 198 (approximately $54, €41, £34).

Thoughts: pretty much the same as the above! Not overly exciting but will come in handy within the next month or 2.

Viktor & Rolf Flower Bomb - this floral explosion releases a profusion of flowers that has the power to make everything seem more positive.

I received a 7ml sample of this perfume and a 100ml bottle retails for AED 590 (approximately $161, €122, £101).

Thoughts: I lurve receiving perfume samples because they fit perfectly into my bag or clutch without weighing in down. I've smelt Flower Bomb on a few of my friends before and have always liked the scent *pops it into my handbag*. I also think the way this sample was packaged is très cute.

All in all I'm very happy with this months GlamBox and now I can't wait for next month to roll along so I can open a new box of beauty goodies - which is like crack to a beauty addict such as myself!

I purchased an annual subscription to GlamBox for AED 550 so I basically paid for 11 months and got 1 month for free. Each month is AED 50 (approximately $14, €10, £9).

Are any of you Dubai based beauty addicts subscribed to GlamBox? If so what are your thoughts on it? For the international beauty addicts out there, are you subscribed to any beauty boxes in your home country? Do they compare to GlamBox?

La Parfum by Elie Saab

Hello!

This post will be about my new favorite perfume for spring/summer!

When I bought the full sized bottle of Lancôme Visionnaire and Genifique Youth Activating Cream not only did they give me the gorgeous vanity case and makeup bag (as seen in the post below) but they also gave me a few samples of the Elie Saab perfume 'La Parfum'.

La Parfum is the first ever perfume from the Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab and when it comes to this gorgeous scent first time is definitely a charm.

This perfume is uber feminine and girly and if you like the smell of jasmine then you'll lurrrrveeeee La Parfum.

The main notes are African orange flower, jasmine, patchouli, Virginia cedar, rose and white honey. In my opinion jasmine is the most noticeable scent but all the notes combine well together and create a unique and truly gorgeous smelling perfume.

If I could sum this perfume up into a few words, I'd describe it as: sweet, feminine, warm but still fresh, slightly musky and charming.

The bottle is simple and chic - nothing much else to say about it really!

La Parfum comes in 30ml, 50ml and 90ml sized bottles. I bought the 90ml bottle from Paris Gallery for AED 524 (about £90, $142).

Does anyone else out there have this gorgeous jasmine scented perfume? If so, do you love it as much as I do?

What's your favorite perfume at the moment?

I'm a sucker for marketing and free gifts

Remember about two weeks ago I did a mini review on Lancôme Visionnaire?

I received a sample of it, loved it, and blogged about it.

In my post I said that after trying a sample of this product I'd purchase a full sized bottle and true to form, I did!

I bought the 50ml bottle mainly because the price difference between the 30ml and 50ml wasn't that much. The 30ml bottle was AED400 (about £68 when converted) and the 50ml bottle was AED510 (about £87 when converted) so considering how expensive this product is, £19 for an extra 20ml was well worth the money.

I received a free gift at the Lancôme counter which I love; a gorgeous vanity case and a make-up bag. From past experience, free gifts are usually cheaply made with the brands' logo slapped all over it but this is so understated and gorgeous and chic - love it!

It's something I'll definitely 100% use so I'm so so happy I received this.

I only went into the shop for Lancôme Visionnaire but the sales women convinced me that I needed to buy the Genifique Youth Activating Cream.. Which I did! I'm a sucker for marketing and the sales lady made this product sound so lush.

I'll try it out for the next couple of weeks and do a review when I have more to say about it.. Watch this space!

What have I done now!?

Hello to whoever is reading this!

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned numerous times throughout this blog that I'm somewhat of a clutz.

Well...

I fractured my ankle!

Yes, I took my clumsiness to a whole new level by falling and hurting my poor little ankle badly.

I'm currently sporting the new hottest fashion accessory this season (sarcasm) a big ol' ugly cast!

To quote Snookie: WAHHHHHH!

At least my toes are painted..

I'm not just a beauty addict...

Some accessories I couldn't resist buying last week, which one is your favorite?

I personally adore the ring... and the bracelet... and the necklaces...
